EXPERIENCE BUILDER

We engage the world through experiences. The ones we remember most are the ones that we connect to beyond the surface. If depth and meaning are present, a design can make you linger, and you might find a connection that a passing glance would have missed. Thinking through how an audience experiences your project is vital to creating the best design. It's a concept easily applied to web or app design, but it applies to all mediums. How does this brochure open? Is that shirt for men and women? Do people need to write on this? Where does the visual story need to direct the audience next? If you want someone to engage a design, experience is everything.

I'm a quiet perfectionist and I push for excellence in everything. I believe in working with integrity and honesty. As a designer I am very intentional, so I normally have a reason behind every decision. But knowing I'm not perfect, hard as I may strive, I welcome honest, critical feedback. My goal for every project is the best final product, whether it's my preferred design or not.

Sometimes the best design, isn't the right design. Every design has a purpose that should be at its core. Audience, medium, scale, and cost are also core guides. These pieces are important influencers of the right design, and it takes thinking outside the box to keep them from being inhibitors of great design.

I've been designing professionally since 2008 and currently work out of Nashville, TN. I have designed logos and graphics, marketing, books and magazines, video elements and props, album art, websites, apps, social media, and merchandise. My work has been hung on corporate walls, sold in stores, tattooed onto skin, and some were probably thrown in the trash. But my passion for the creative process, for turning thoughts into visions, doesn't change. I am an experience builder hoping to engage the world.
